Part Qualified & Accounting Professionals Market September 2022

In regards to the partly qualified sector, similarly to the beginning of the pandemic, 2 years ago, there has been no significant drop off in recruitment needs and the sector has continued to remain strong. Furthermore, skills and experience are becoming more important and sought after within a sector that previously was rather unskilled and junior.

The industries that recruit part qualified accountants remain highly varied. As you would expect, roles within the iGaming and fintech space are incredibly popular and given the sheer demand within the insurance space, we are seeing insurance companies now turning to less experienced and qualified professionals in the hope of moulding them into leading employees over time.

We are seeing an increased demand for certain specialisations within the part qualified space. There are multiple roles and opportunities where companies are looking to hire someone who is not only partly qualified but have experience and knowledge of treasury or accounts payable or exposure to PSPs, to name but a few.

This new trend is allowing excellent career progression and growth within a sector that was sometimes previously limited unless the candidate was to become fully qualified.

Typically, candidates within this sector are beginning their ACCA qualification or they have decided that they no longer wish to continue studying and would rather simply focus on working and gaining valuable experience.

Hiring companies are typically searching for professionals who want to progress in their careers and are eager to learn and grow within the company. With candidates normally focused on their ACCA qualification, the most sought-after benefit scheme in this sector remains financial study assistance and some study leave.

As was the case at the beginning of the year, Corporate Service Providers (CSPs) are becoming the go-to place for junior finance professionals.

The amount of exposure on offer both locally and internationally is highly valuable to more junior candidates. They can gain varied industry exposure and these juniors can get a sense of which industry they may like to focus on in the future.
